Reflection, Gratitude and Deepening Wisdom

Updated: Jan 15

My intention for this blog is to share my wisdom and reflections that I have learned and experiences within the last year through my work practice and also through a deeper understanding of my holistic approach.

There has been so much growth and transition I have experienced within this past year that I felt a deeper nudge to take a step back and take some time to rest and integrate these new experiences. Having the ability to hold space and support my patients through challenging times and physical and emotional pain has truly made me feel grateful and appreciative of the nature of my work and how deeply it has shifted people's perspectives on their mind, body and overall healing.

Providing a slower and more safe environment in my workplace has been what really makes my sessions so encouraging and empowering to help my patients understand and create a trust within themselves that they may not have been able to witness before. In a society where it has been more 'unsafe' or feeling judged for being vulnerable, it is so important to have a place to know that your body and mind can relax and relieve the tension that has been suppressed. The process of slowing down and regulating the nervous system is where the safety can begin and can be achieved more easily in connection with supportive therapists.

I have had the pleasure of connecting with new communities where there has been a great emphasis and value on being authentic and sharing human experiences and about creating a more empowering and safe space for women to feel, create and nurture ourselves. Our feelings and unique experiences all are bringing together our true essence and reminding us that we are not separate and that a caring and understanding community can make a significant difference in our lives. I love that these communities exist to strengthen women and our bodies and spirit. We cannot give to others from an empty cup and this has lead to a deepening of self-care and what that truly means to each person.

Simple self-care for women if not just the superficial type of care, but connecting to our body and mind in a way that feels safe and nurtured. Some include taking some extra time in the mornings to slow down, stretch, journal and meditate. Other types of care can be being mindful in nature and pampering with bath or oils. Pouring into ourselves can then be more natural to be able to provide and hold space and give to others. The self-compassion and gentleness we offer to ourselves is more valuable I feel than before because it holds a greater capacity to teach and give to others.

I have been really appreciative of all the genuine interest and kindness that a lot of people have showed towards my holistic approach in physiotherapy, and how transformative it can be in even a short period of time. I also am grateful for my handmade jewellery creations that I started last spring and also the support the gemstones provide in healing and positivity they bring to my patients, families and friends.

Here's to a wonderful abundant year of continued support and connections. My intention is to continue to bring support, educate and guide women on their journey. And, as always, spread awareness of pelvic health and holistic practices.

If interested in booking with me, I offer free discovery sessions in person and online, Chatham and Waterloo. Visit my website for more information and bookings, or connect with me directly via email or through social media.
